The Predators are looking to build on a playoff appearance last year with some better management of goaltender Juuse Saros, who was a Vezina Trophy finalist but was injured just before the playoffs began. Kevin Lankinen was signed to back Saros up and give him some breaks throughout the season to maintain his durability. A pair of 40-goal scorers return in Matt Duchene and Filip Forsberg, and the Preds are hoping for a boost in production from 24-year-old Eeli Tolvanen, who has 22 points in 40 games in 2020-21 but had just 23 points in a full season last year. On defense, Ryan McDonagh was acquired via trade and should complement Norris Trophy winner Roman Josi well.
