Lions Spotlight

Current NFL Season

Despite a rough record last year, the Lions showed great improvement, heart, and hustle under first-year head coach Dan Campbell. Detroit lost several heartbreakers but played up in tying the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road and beating the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings at home as part of a 3-3 stretch to finish the season after an 0-10-1 start. The team gave quarterback Jared Goff a new weapon in D.J. Chark, coming over from Jacksonville in free agency to go with Amon-Ra St. Brown, who emerged as a top target late in the season, and running back D’Andre Swift enters his third season with a solid second option in Jamaal Williams. The defense also improved with the signing of safety Tracy Walker and the draft selection of popular Michigan linebacker Aidan Hutchinson with the No. 2-overall pick.

Past Spotlights

It’s a new era in Detroit, as longtime quarterback Matthew Stafford was traded to the Rams for Jared Goff and a bunch of first-round draft picks. That should bode well for the Lions’ future, but it’s worth seeing what they will do this year under passionate first-year head coach Dan Campbell. Running back D’Andre Swift is also coming off a solid rookie year, where he ran for 521 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games, along with racking up 357 yards on offense and two more scores. Expect the Lions to be competitive against NFC North rivals along with non-conference games against teams like San Francisco, Baltimore, and Cincinnati, who all feature young quarterbacks. Along with an array of suites and clubs, the Lions take field-level seats at Ford Field to a new level. These are premium, high-back seats that are just feet above the sideline to literally give you the best seat in the house. To get even closer to the action, try the MGM Tunnel Club, which gives you access to the stadium and club three hours’ prior to gametime and get an up-close view of the Lions going to and from the locker room during warmups, before the game, halftime, and after the game.

With the Detroit Lions in a win-now mode, the 2020 NFL season looks to be where the Lions take over the NFC North. A year of injuries forced the Lions into a losing season a year ago but with a healthy Matthew Stafford, Matt Patricia’s offense should be rolling. Kenny Golladay has emerged as a top wide receiver in the league, with Marvin Jones performing as one of the underrated players at his position. The Lions used a top draft pick on running back, D’Andre Swift, to partner up with Kerryon Johnson in the backfield. In his second season, TE T.J. Hockenson is ready to breakout as well.

With some offseason retooling, the Lions defense will be taking step forward. With Darius Slay no longer on the team, the Lions signed Desmond Trufant to be their shutdown cornerback. The Lions are signed LB Jamie Collins, who will right away be the leader of this new look defense. The Lions essentially made changes at nearly every defensive position, which should no doubt make this defense a lot better from a year ago.

The Lions recently renovated their suites at Ford Field, making the suites more desirable than ever before. Most of the luxury suites at Ford Field are on the Beacon Street side of the stadium. Stretching from end zone to end zone, the Lions have 3 suite levels (400 Level, 500 Level & 600 Level). Across the field on the visitor sideline, there are 8 Gridiron Suites and 12 Terrace Suites. Of the 5 suite options the Lions offer, the Terrace Suites will be smallest with the Gridiron Suites being the largest. On the 400, 500 & 600 suite levels, groups of 12-25 can be accommodated. With VIP parking passes and private entry into Ford Field, the perks to a renting a Lions suite begin before you even arrive to your luxury box.  One of the biggest highlights of the year at Ford Field is of course Thanksgiving. Suites to see the Lions on Thanksgiving are available to rent and an entire Thanksgiving feast can be setup in the suite for you.
