Marlins Spotlight

Current MLB Season

The Marlins were a surprise playoff team in the unique 2020 season, but the young team failed to capitalize on that in 2021. But a solid rotation has the team dreaming of contending in a difficult division, led by Sandy Alcantara, Pablo Lopez, Trevor Rogers, and Jesus Luzardo. Offensively, all eyes will be on Jazz Chisholm Jr., and he joins veterans Jesus Sanchez, Jorge Soler, Avisail Garcia, Brian Anderson, and Joey Wendle in a lineup that won’t have any easy outs in it. Soler was the top free-agent acquisition, as he is coming off a World Series MVP run with Atlanta.

One of the best parts of LoanDepot Park in Miami is that you know you’ll be seeing a game even if the south Florida weather doesn’t cooperate due to the stadium’s retractable roof. The PNC Club is just steps away from home plate and comes with seats right behind the dish, offering a variety of food and... MORE

Past Spotlights

Fresh off an amazing 2020 season, the 2021 Miami Marlins look to keep the momentum going this season. The Marlins biggest splash ahead of the 2021 season was not a big signing or trade, it was hiring Kim Ng to be their new general manager, making Ng the first woman to become a GM in North American professional team sports and MLB’s first Asian-American to be a GM.

The Marlins lineup will feature a solid mix of power and speed with everyday players like Starling Marte, Brian Anderson, Jesus Aguilar, Miguel Rojas, Corey Dickerson, and Adam Duvall. On the mound, the Marlins pitching rotation will be led by Sandy Alcantara and Pablo Lopez.

loanDepot park (formerly Marlins Park) went through some fan-friendly improvements over the past couple of seasons. With fans expected back at some point in 2021, they can experience the Marlins Biscayne Bay Brew Hall. This bar and social lounge have large garage doors that can be open to enjoy the comfortable open-air climate.

The AutoNation Alley Deck is also a new experience. It is an outfield space that can hold from 50-175 guests, offers a variety of seating options, and exclusive catering options are available.

The Club: DEX Imaging is just steps away from home plate comes with seats right behind home plate and offers a variety of food and drink options along with unique experiences and other surprises.

loanDepot park luxury suites will offer a private setting for groups. Founders and Legends Suites offer some of the best views for groups of 16 plus, directly behind home plate. MVP Suites are along the first and third baselines for groups of 12 or more, giving fans a private space with first-class amenities such as balcony seating, HDTVs, and upscale furnishings. Larger luxury box options include Fiesta Suites and Champs Suites for groups of 24-70 people.

The Marlins believe they have turned the corner on their massive rebuild and hope to have more success in a competitive National League East division.

Sandy Alcantara anchors the rotation, and he should get some help throughout the season as prospects Sixto Sanchez, Edward Cabrera, and Nick Neidert may all debut in 2020.

On offense, the biggest acquisition was coach James Rowson, who served with a Twins team that set a single-season home run record in 2019. Expect Brian Anderson, Jonathan Villar, and Jesus Aguilar to benefit while waiting on reinforcements like Monte Harrison and Jesus Sanchez from the minors.

Marlins Park went through some fan-friendly improvements in time for 2020. The outfield fences in center field are coming in from 407 to 400 feet and right-center is being moved in from 399 to 387 feet. Also new for 2020 is the Biscayne Bay Brew Hall. This bar and social seating area has large garage doors that can be open to enjoy the comfortable open-air climate.
