Timberwolves Spotlight

Current NBA Season

After making the playoffs for the first time in five seasons, the Timberwolves are going big this year—literally. Head coach Chris Finch will have big men Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert at his disposal after the latter was acquired in a trade with Utah. Expectations are high for a franchise that hasn’t won a playoff series since 2004, and a big part of that will rely on Karl-Anthony Towns, who averaged nearly 25 points and 10 rebounds last year and is playing with a fresh contract.

The luxury suites at the Target Center were recently redone as part of a $140 million arena renovation. Suites accommodate between 11 and 22 guests and parking is included. One unique aspect of a suite at a Wolves game is that you can pick from a catering menu that has a Minnesota flavor with locally sourced organic food options hand-selected by area chef David Fhima.

Past Spotlights

A pair of former first overall draft picks could provide the T’Wolves 1-2 punch. Karl-Anthony Towns looks to be close to 100 percent after only playing in 85 games over the last two seasons. When healthy, “KAT” has been one of the most productive big men in the NBA, averaging 23 points and 11.6 rebounds a game over his six-year career. It didn’t take long for last year’s top selection, Anthony Edwards, to get accustomed to professional basketball. The 19-year-old averaged 19.3 points per game en route to being voted runner-up for the Rookie of the Year Award. Minnesota’s biggest offseason signing brings a wealth of playoff experience as Patrick Beverley could fit in perfectly as their sixth man. The premium experience at the Target Center starts where the action does, at the Lexus Courtside Club. From street- to-seat, complimentary valet parking leads you toward a five-star meal from their local chef and restaurateur. The recently-remodeled Club TI Suites are a great option for your personal or professional needs. Shuffleboard, pool, and gaming tables provided by Treasure Island Resort and Casino enhance the entertainment experience. Those looking for more of a classic stadium experience can take in TCL SixOneTwo Lounge. Inspired by the urban aesthetic of Minnesota’s North Loop neighborhood, a fun and fresh menu filled with craft beer options awaits.

Ryan Saunders, son of former Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders, takes over as head coach this season after an interim coaching run at the end of last season that saw some success, as Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins saw scoring increases under Saunders’ tutelage. New team president Gersson Rosas is sticking with Saunders and the core of players, hoping they will break through and reach the playoffs in a tough Western Conference. Minnesota is in search for a second star to compliment Towns, who enters the first year of his second NBA contract. The success of this season may hinge on whether Wiggins can show consistent improvement. If Robert Covington continues his upward trajectory, that will also help.

The Target Center, fresh off a $140 million facelift in 2017, is chock-full of premium seating opportunities. At the Lexus Courtside Club, you will get VIP treatment from start to finish. Park your car at the valet and enter the arena through the members only entrance. Five-star dining is included and served in the Club through the end of the first quarter. You won’t have to leave your courtside seat to get a snack or a refill, as you can get in-seat service through the end of the third quarter. Finally, the Courtside Club bar remains open for 60 minutes after the game ends.

The executive suites that sit anywhere from 16-22 people were also totally renovated and feature the traditional high-end suite experience.
